The internet was started by the U.S military in mid-1960”s and was designed as communications net work during cold war. The internet was used only by Government and University researchers until the year 1990.

What is Internet

The internet is a world-wide net work of computers connected by common communication protocols. It is a giant mass of enables and computers. The internet is a generalized data communication system.

The use of Internet

The internet enables people to communicate with other people all over the world. It is used for info sharing, marketing carrying out on line commerce (Eg: advertising, selling buying), customer support, public services providing access to databases (eg: financial statistics or weather reports), publishing multimedia documents (where text, pictures, sound and video are brought together) broadcasting audio and video including live radio and TV programs, providing video conferencing offering on line “chat” where people “discuss” using written text, the creation of virtual space in which people can interact at distance as well as exchange E-mail. Hundreds of million users are currently connected to Internet World Wide; this millions of minds being linked together.

What is WWW

The World Wide Web (web: spider spins a web symbolic meaning) is a client sever information systems – an interconnection with many different points-on the internet.

How to connect to Internet?

Accessing the internet there are two possibilities

01. Via a modem (modulator /demodulator)

The computer connects temporarily-generally over a telephone line using a modem

02. Via a network (totally dedicated access)

Link to the internet or is directly connected to the internet (via a router) The router is connected to the ISP server

What is HTML

HTML stands hyper text mark –up language. It is a cross platform language what works on widows, mackintosh and UNIX platforms. It allows the easy presentation and navigations on information over multiple computers. It has created world -wide- web.

W.W.W. is an open – ended information retrieval system designed to be used in the internets distributed environment. This system contains what are known as web pages that provide both information and controls. We are guided through a particular direction using a decision tree structure unlike menu – driven system, We the web system is open ended and we can navigate to a new document in any direction. This made possible with the help of language called HTML, web pages contains HTML tags that enable us to find, retrieve manipulate and display documents world wide.
